Buzzing worse than a bee

We like the look and size of the refrigerator, but as soon as it was installed, it has continued to make a buzzing noise that we can™€™t get rid of. It is so loud that it bothers us to even be in our kitchen. We have a technician scheduled to come and look at our brand new refrigerator. I certainly hope it can be fixed especially considering how much we paid for it.

Worst refrigerator I ever owned!!!

Worst refrigerator I have ever owned. Most expensive as well. I had this since October 2022 and freezer will not work / freeze. I have done my usual vacuum out pet hair and blockages every year. This is the second time in less than 4 years the freezer has failed. First repair was about 18 months in. Freezer stopped freezing., food went bad and was without a freezer for a week plus. Technician came out found nothing wrong after disassembling, leak checks etc. Replaced board and worked (took another 2 days to freeze). I was out of warranty on board. 1 year warranty, that is confidence in your product. I also had to wait 7 months for this that Ge counted as part of warranty. Compressor would have been covered. 10 years that is good but standard. This is high end crap. Wifi won't connect. This replaced my 12 year old fridge from IKEA that is still in the garage working and freezing my food. I am dreading having to schedule service and wait again. I bought as part of a set of individual components that I picked from GE Cafe line including induction stove, dishwasher, and micro hood, these have been flawless. The fridge design is not that great either unless you are into beverages and condiments. The french doors have storage galore but steals from the shelf space, very narrow shelves. Freezer is nice storage wise. On a positive note this is the best looking fridge I have owned. The interior LED lights are great.

Quality control issues but great refrigerator

We purchased this refrigerator about 2 months ago. I have been happy with the capacity, cooling and ergonomics. However, the freezer has just begun to frost inside and had the repair people out which inspected and said that their was an error in assembly in the door of the refrigerator at the factory causing the seal to not seal effectively. A new part has been requested. The response to our service call was quick, efficient and the repair technician was very knowledgeable. I am surprised though that this type of error managed to get through quality control at the factory.

I would like to see the inside to be a little deeper. I think the drawers for vegetable are too small and overall storage for leftovers and larger milk, juice containers is too small. The shelves in the drawers are wonderful and have a lot of space but for a family of 5 with 3 teenage boys, we need more overall space. Also the alarm goes off so quickly. If you need to clean or organize the fridge it seems like the alarm rings in 30 seconds.

I find the water spigot of special concern. It is difficult to push and only works if it is pushed on the right side of the rubber button, cuts off all the time, acts like it might have a twisted tube in that the flow is minimal. The doors are a problem too: hard to close,

I bought the Cafe Series fridge, stove and dishwasher. Love the dishwasher and stove, hate the fridge. It has low capacity. The fridge doors don™€™t open all the way, to 180°. They are hard to pull and you must open both doors to take out anything not on the door ahelves. The temp control (I have a thermometer) keeps it at 31°, no matter the setting. The freezer is small.

The capacity of this refrigerator is awful. I™€™m not sure why the depth of this appliance is so shallow. The drawer depths are also shallow. And then the gap under the lower long vegetable drawer doesn™€™t allow for anything to be stored but creates a cleaning nightmare.

Cooling issue

Fridge is set at 34 degrees. Food is at 37 degrees or higher. Mayonnaise was 43 degrees. Uneven and irregular cooling. I™€™ve had it 2 weeks and do not trust it. I keep perishable food in an old refrigerator in the basement. I have a technician coming to see if there is a fixable problem. If not, I™€™ve got a $3600 fridge to give away.

Terrible Fridge - Will last 2-3 years max

We bought this fridge 2.5 years ago and one night is just died in line with many of the reviews here. You would think a $3,500 fridge would actually work. Not even worth it to work with the GE repair given the price and time to have someone come out and repair it. We had a terrible experience with our GE washer also dying and the repair being useless. Avoid this fridge - and avoid all GE products.

Bottom Freezer Door Doesn't Close

Operates as expected except that the bottom freezer door does not close without slamming it several times. Did have serviceman come out; he replaced the side tracks saying that it wasn't "latching" properly. Then it worked well for 4 months. Same problem. I had to buy an extended warranty so that I can get this reoccurring issue corrected as necessary.

Awful GE Experience

Water Dispensing Button Terrible

The water button on the inside is EXTREMLY hard to push. You have to use two hands, whereas we prefer the design where you push a lever with your glass and the water dispenses. Poor design and regret this purchase for that reason.

Decent fridge so far. The only complaints is with the size of the freezer and the water dispenser. Freezer drawers are angled, not square. You can't fit very much in them. The water dispenser inside the fridge is also difficult and awkward to use, you have to press the button to dispense yourself instead of being able to just put a cup up against to dispense. It's hard to press also.

I have Cafe line in my kitchen that was renovated 2022. The Freezer and Fridge started to rise 11/14/25. I called for service on 11/17/25 to which GE (Bodewell) could not come until 12/1/25. We did not have a working refrigerator for Thanksgiving. The technician came on 12/1/25 and assessed it to be a cooling issue and ordered parts to be shipped directly to my house with an appointment to come back in 2 weeks, but they were a no show. After taking a day off from work and waiting all day for nothing, I called to get a status on the technician and they told me that the service appointment was moved to 1/9/2026. I am hosting Christmas for my family and now I still do not have a working refrigerator. The store I purchased the appliances from did find a 3rd party appliance company to come since I had the parts already. When he arrived on Friday, 12/19, he assessed that the incorrect parts were ordered and that is not the problem, but instead it is coils or something else. He ordered more parts that will take 4 business days to come in and now we are waiting on that. I am not sure what the most upsetting part it- GE/ Bodewell just does not care about their customers when they are stuck without a fridge for so long, they care less about respecting their time and just are no shows without any communications, or are they just that off on their own appliances that they could not assess the issue correctly- and what happens when they come back, close to 2 months after my initial call of the fridge being broken, and the 3rd party repair was correct and they come to not fix the real problem. I will not even mention how the dishwasher is terrible and never gets all the dishes clean, since I can live with washing dishes, but it is very hard to function as a family/household without a working refrigerator. I have lost all the contents of the original fail and now I cannot even food shop for hosting Christmas for my family and extended family. To be continued, I suppose, since there is no end in sight as to when we will have our appliance back to operating since the service company cannot be trusted to communicate or know what is actually wrong with it.

This refrigerator and freezer is perfect size and is very easy to organize. The best part about dealing with GE is that my appliance person takes care of me and when the fridge did not work exactly as it should, they replaced the entire thing with no questions asked. I also bought the copper handles for all of the appliances and it looks great.

I™€™m not sure what to think about this product as the original one I purchased only lasted a few months and then completely died. Fortunately, I had purchased an extended warranty and was able to have it replaced. Otherwise, my warranty began the day it was purchased, and it wasn™€™t installed until eight months later and I™€™m glad I got the extended so I could have it replaced. I like the look and the style and the size. It remains to be seen how this one will be on functionality.

Overall, it™€™s fine. It gives us the most capacity for the dimensions, so we appreciate that. When it arrived it was incredibly loud, but we resolved that by tightening up the metal piece on the back. What I wish was better: -the stainless steel is not at all fingerprint resistant. My old fridge had a fingerprint resistant coating and I didn™€™t realize how important that was until I received this new fridge without it. -the water dispenser is too high up, and the button is above the spout so it takes 2 hands to refill. It™€™s also a harder push so even with a chair my kids can™€™t fill up their own cups. Because of the two handed fill, when we need to refill large things, such as our coffee reservoir, we are standing with both fridge doors wide open for a full minute or 2. It feels inefficient and just not well thought out.

Not great that the compressor stopped working after 3 years. Apparently the compressor is also indefinitely out of stock... thank god I had an extended warranty that after 2 months with no refrigerator they gave me 80% of what I originally paid, too bad inflation makes the "refund" look like chump-change. Wouldn't suggest, it's pretty but useless if it only lasts 3 years.

Came in dented in a few places. Doors were replaced, one of them 3x. DO NOT like the single meat, beverage, deli drawer. Both doos need to be open to access it. Don™€™t like how the doors need to be pushed shut past a certain point.

Compressor went out after only three years!

I had been very satisfied with this refrigerator for three years. However, it started to make a noise, and I called a repair tech out. The compressor was out. I truly can™€™t believe a three year-old refrigerator would have a compressor go bad. With a price tag between $1200 and $1500 to be repaired it now sits on the side of my house, ready to be disposed.

This refrigerator looks good, I feel it's pretty roomy for a counter depth model, I love the shelving flexibility. I really love the drawer freezer. I would say the only thing I don't like is the water dispenser is very hard to press, I don't usually get my water from the refrigerator so It doesn't bother me too much but it is tough.

Great fridge for a smaller household

This refrigerator is on the smaller side, but works just great for two retirees. The water dispenser inside the refrigerator is just fine. You do need two hands to operate it one hand to hold your glass and one hand to press the button. We never liked the exterior water dispensers as they make such a mess. And we very rarely use the water from the fridge anyway. Seems to work just great, and the interior is nice and bright for us older folks who have a hard time seeing things. Some of the newer refrigerators have a very dark interior and it makes things hard to see. This one is great. The refrigerator is very quiet as well, and easily keeps our items cold. The shelves are flexible in their position so that you can situate them however, you want. If you have taller things, you can just move the shelf up to accommodate them. I also like the on door Shelves as they are also flexible in their position. It™€™s nice to put half gallons of milk or soda containers on the doors.

GE Cafe as replacement for Sub Zero

In general this is a nice refrigerator. It is a replacement for a sub zero I had for 26 years. I miss my big crisper drawer. The two produce drawers are just too small. On the plus side:it is quiet, the inside water dispenser is very convenient and the bottom freezer is fairly large.

Love that every thought by this s easily accessible! Shelves, drawers, ice are all located with the consumer in mind. I would have given 5 stars except for one minor adjustment I would make. The water dispenser inside is at an awkward angle unless both doors are open. Love the design and sleek exterior without dispensers on the outside.

I love the look of this refridgerator. External and internal shelves build quality is very good. Lighting is excellent. Unfortunately, the compressor blew at 2 1/2 years old. I must say that GE Factory Service was excellent. Came in a couple days, had the part and knew what to do (apparently they have a lot of practice). Repair was under warranty, so the cost to me was $0, other than the time and aggravation. New compressor is definitly a litte louder than the factory installed one, but not offensively so. There is a class action lawsuit on these refridgerators for compressor failure. We'll see how long the replacement compressor lasts. I don't expect 30 years like the refridgerators of old, but I certainly expect 10 trouble free years from GE's near top of the line. Not sure if I would buy this model again.

Absolutely beautiful, well made refrigerator. We love the lighting inside and the shelf layout. Wanted a counter depth fridge and this one clicked all the boxes. Smaller cubic feet than what we had , but the layout makes it appear larger. So far so good. Would buy this again without question. Only negative ( and it's not a big deal) is the compressor is a bit louder than what we had.

Get a model with water dispenser on the outside

Thank goodness for GE's 5-year warranty on the sealed compartment of the refrigerator. The refrigerator stopped cooling four times in 7 months after it reached its 2nd birthday. Each time I would throw out food and wait a week for a service call. Finally GE responded with a new replacement of the same model. The refrigerator has difficulty staying below 40 degrees with the door opening constantly for water.
