Dryer works fantastic. Way better than my 15 year old version of the same one. Drys clothes in half the time. Can handle large blankets and is quiet as a mouse, for a dryer that is. Would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Lint filter

The dryer works great but the only negative is the dryer lint filter does not catch all the lint and collects around the bottom of the door which allows the lint to get caught on the clothes when removing them. I make sure to clean the filter after each drying but the above keeps occurring regardless. A big no no!

Reluctantly upgraded from am 18+ year old GE dryer that despite starting to show its age was still doing the job for our family day in and day out. We had recently upgraded the 18 year old companion GE washer due to some performance issues, and wanted to keep a matched set. I'm glad we did. While the 18 year old dryer did everything we needed, this GE Profile Dryer does all of that and a bit more. The steam functions are the main functionality added, but the smart functions of this dryer are nice to have, particularly being alerted on my phone when the cycle is 5 minutes from done, and then once it completes, avoiding clothes sitting in the dryer and wrinkling, etc. I like the fact that the washer and dryer talk and relay the load settings from the washer to dryer. This makes it more foolproof, allowing my 9 year old to do her own laundry without much assistance from her parents.

So far it works beautifully! The feature of steam is really nice, as is the app/wifi functionality. The only thing that bothers me is I can't seem to adjust the sound even following the manual instructions. The matching washer is excellent too. The venting after my last cycle of the day left the gadket bone dry! Just remember to open the detergent drawer the next day, as it was still wet.

We're finding the GE Profile washer/dryer combo to be an excellent choice - sleek and really good washer/dryer program settings - we particularly like the washer to dryer wireless connection for automatic dryer setting. However, the only reason we give this 4 stars instead of 5 is the SmartHQ app - it only allows one person to be designated as the primary user in the app to have washer/dryer controls and get cycle alerts - other persons (spouse, child, etc.) can sign up with the app but only monitor equipment and not have user controls or cycle alerts - the SmartHQ app needs to allow multiple people to connect to the machines as primary users with independent machine controls and alerts.

Nice dryer, but for the price, I'm a little disappointed. Having settings of, "damp, less dry, dry, more dry, extra dry," I find that I almost always have to set it to extra dry, and even then, often have to run another timed cycle to completely dry things. Without running an additional cycle, edges of towels and pockets of jeans are usually still damp after a normal cycle set to extra dry and low heat. I have also noticed that when drying a thin king size blanket, the dryer always seems to roll the blanket up like a sleeping bag, and at the end of the cycle, the outside of the roll is dry but the inside and majority of the blanket is still damp. This has happened several times now, no matter how I put the blanket in the machine. I now have to pull the blanket out several times during the cycle to rearrange it and often extend the cycle to get it completely dry. This was never an issue with my old GE Profile dryer. I believe my old dryer would change the direction of spin several times during a cycle.

I™€™ve had my GE set for three weeks and I™€™m in love! They get my family™€™s clothes really clean and dries nicely. My favorite features are 1) the venting after a wash cycle, which completely dries the washer so there™€™s no mildew or musty smell, and 2) the 1-step wash and dry feature on the washer, which I use quite a bit if I run a load before bed or if I™€™m not sure when I™€™ll get back to the laundry room. This feature continues to spin the laundry and blow air so it™€™s essentially a no heat drying option. It gets some things totally dry and more bulky items almost-dry over an 8-9 hour period. When it™€™s on the ™€œdrying™€ part of the cycle, you can stop it anytime and toss the load into the dryer. It basically just starts the drying process and ensures you don™€™t get that musty smell when you leave a load in the washer too long, and cuts down on the dryer time. The dryer is also and has several heat settings that all work well.
