A black cooktop is difficult to keep clean. And, since it is painted, it scratches easily. I would pay a premium for a solid stainless steel cooktop and back panel like they used to make when I was young: scrub-able and resistant to scratches and chips. Other than that, the range performs well.

Maytag Stoves - Not what they used to be

Performance of this stove is unsatisfactory. The burners only run at a high flame, even at the lowest setting. They do not simmer and often things will boil over if not watched closely. The oven is the opposite in that you have to heat the temp at least 15 degrees higher to get the desired temp and cook you are looking for. Very disappointed.

Faulty Bake Ignitor

Faulty bake element ignitor. Needed to be replaced after 15 months and then again 6 months after that! I am now resorting to buying a spare one just to have on hand when it goes again. Each time is a $85 part. Good thing I can install it myself. Also not pleased with the strength of the oven racks. I kept the ones from my old Kenmore and put those in instead. Those ones could hold an elephant! It does have super powerful top burners and no issue with those. The top cleans up easy and the self clean option ...when the thing works... does a good job.

Nice range, but can be Very Dangerous

I bought this to replace my Bosch range. (the Bosch was not worth owning) THE GOOD: This range preheats quickly. The flame from the burners is close enough to your pans that it doesn't take forever to boil/cook food. The oven temperature seems to be pretty close. It has a storage drawer and continues grates Yay. THE BAD: The finish is way too thin. It scratches very easily. One of the main reasons you scratch it is because though the continues grates are great, there are two that interlock. You must remove the left grate first, then you can remove the right one. They 'are' heavy. If you don't remove them in slow mo, you are very likely to hit the back. THE VERY VERY BAD: The Knobs Are Very Dangerous. When leaning over to clean the back of the range the knobs can very easily be turned on by your body AND of course to a 'High Flame'. The burner at the front is the largest. When reading reviews prior to purchasing I saw this issue raised many many times, but I thought, You Just Have To Be Careful . Well I was careful I thought, but I just about caught my head on fire anyway. I have long hair, thank God I had it put back. I felt the woosh of heat all the way to my eyebrows. Because of my movements back and forth with the cleaning rag, I turned the knob easily. (No The Igniter Did not Sound.) And make sure you keep your clothing tucked in while cooking. THIS IS A HORRIBLE ISSUE THAT MAYTAG NEEDS TO ADDRESS.

Bought this 3 months ago to replace a 20+ year older unit that has died. I really like the new grates across the cooking surface, the middle oval burner is a fun feature, and the oven works nicely. Quibbles that I have .. the burner caps all wobble (poor casting), the overall metal is quite a bit thinner than the older model I replaced, and the oven racks are flimsy. Luckily I kept the older oven racks and they fit in this oven too .. old racks have two cross-side bars with 18 front-back bars while new racks have one cross-side bar with 12 front-back bars .. new racks struggle to/barely hold my dutch-oven while I braise, not going to push my luck and use them. Plus I forgot to check that the broiler worked when I first got it .. just found out that mine doesn't work. <sigh>

After 20 months of ownership, $475 in repairs period One of the parts had to be repaired was so hot you couldn't hold it. I would not purchase this product and would be nervous as to whether there would be a hazard with owning it in your house.. I would not recommend this purchase.

I bought this range along with a Maytag microwave about 18 months ago. The microwave cut out a month after it hit the year mark, luckily it was emitting a burning smell which is a safety hazard and could be liable for them, otherwise I was told I would have to cover the cost. The range stopped working 2 nights ago, it sounds like a faulty igniter. Although the igniter is under warranty the labor is not. So I will have to pay at least another hundred or two to get it fixed. When I told customer service I was unhappy I had to pay anything to fix this appliance after only a year and half they said ™€œwell you bought it after reading the warranty™€! You™€™re right Maytag, you pulled one over on me™€¦.Good for you. Nothing but trouble, do not buy this name brand. Unless you feel like treating your oven like a car and having constant repairs and maintenance. Not built to last.

great features when it works

Hello, I purchased this range a little over a year ago. I have had it serviced 3 times while under the one year warranty and going on 3 times now under the extended. The features are great when it works. I love everything about the range except that every few months something else goes wrong. I spoke with the service people who say these last parts they are replacing will most likely not fix the problem but it is the only things left to try. I have received no help from Maytag nor the extended warranty co. You would think that the money they have spent on repairs and service calls they would get that this is just a lemon and do something about it.My dinner for Thanksgiving, traditional Christmas cookies, and Christmas dinner were a near disaster. I had to keep shutting down the stove, waiting for it to cool and then starting it again. We cannot go out due to Covid and that mess and I do not have a reliable range to cook with. Had the problem been addressed I would have given this high marks. Due to the poor customer relations and the fact this one is a lemon , i wish i could give it 0

First delivery arrived scratched and dented. The retailer made good on the replacement. But if you so much as touch the back panel, you have a scratch. We had a GE unit prior to this, for over ten years. No such problem. Thought Maytag was supposed to be a good product. Good power at the burners.

Great performance

We bought this to replace our previous range which was damaged during a recent home renovation. This new range has performed great so far. Temperature selection is easy and rapid, and warm-up is much quicker than our previous range. Thanksgiving will be the true test, but so far we are impressed.

We bought this Maytag range to replace a Samsung one. It is 10 times better!!! The oven heats up in like 5-8 mins compared to our old one took almost an hour. The burners are nicely separated and the stovetop is designed great. Only flaw would be the controls are in the back and if u are cooking it™€™s a high risk of getting hurt/burn.

All burners simmer sauces as a simmer should. High heat burners do as they should also. I like that the oven turns off as the timer goes off. Nice feature. The oven does not preheat as fast as my old range did but I'm a 70 year old man in no hurry. I have not used the oval burner yet but with soup and stew season around the bend that will change quickly. I also make all my different stocks at home. You want good stock make it at home. The price was right....the warranty is great. I cook a lot and I'm happy. .

Disappointing

I owned my previous 2 Maytag ovens for a combined 30+ years. Moved and left my last one at my "old" home. Very disappointed in this new one, and I did all my research before purchasing! Could not see in person due to Covid, so....1) the surface material of the grates on this are terrible! They scratch the bottoms of all the pans and casserole dishes. 2) you cannot remove the right grate without first taking off the left one, which is very annoying if you don't need to clean beneath both!! 3) again, the surface of the grates is awful-I slipped putting grate back onto stove ( they are heavy which is expected) and scratched the back of the stovetop!!! 4) kitchen timer does NOT have a reminder tone when the oven is on--timer simply counts down, alarms once and SHUTS OFF. Great way to burn things in oven. (ironically, the reminder tone does work when oven is not on at all) 5) Alarm is not very loud. 6) When timer and/or oven are on, there is no separate clock display. ---I loved my previous ovens, and so I went with Maytag again. Extremely upset that I now I have an range which I do not like but am stuck with.

Heavy grates scratch paint off stove.

I bought mine a couple months ago and I cringe if a spice falls onto the range. I then have to lift (sometimes both because they™€™re connected together) the horribly heavy grate to clean the stove off™€" while being extremely careful because any little knick and my porcelain finish comes off.

After 2 years, all the knobs are falling off and we continually have to put them back on. The individual burners are slow to start a flame and in some cases 2 of them won™€™t start unless another burner is on.. Very disappointed in Maytag!!!
